Agvocacy

Welcome to inFARMative!!

Hello! Welcome to inFARMative! We are so excited to be starting this blog and sharing our knowledge and love of all things agriculture with y’all! In this blog we will cover topics relating to Agronomy, Animal Sciences, Agriculture in general, Agvocacy, ag education, and many more. I (Sarah) will talk about things relating to Agronomy, Agvocacy, and Ag Ed. These three things are my most passionate topics within agriculture (other than my love of cows!). My sister (Kristina) will probably talk more about Animal Science, Agvocacy, and general ag topics.

My name is Sarah Zerger and I received my Bachelor’s in Agronomy with a focus in Consulting and Production and a minor in Animal Sciences from Kansas State University in May 2018 and have been “out in the real world” since then. I love teaching anyone and everyone I can about agriculture, especially when it relates to Agronomy. Y’all are probably starting to wonder “What is Agronomy?!” Well, Agronomy is the study of plants and soils and their environment. Mostly I help farmers increase their crop yields and provide various recommendations such as nutrient, weed, insect and disease control, planting, and many others. In addition to giving recommendations, I also scout fields, take soil samples and analyze yield and soil data. There are many more things than an Agronomist does and provides for farmers, but being a resource for them is the main priority and focus.

My name is Kristina Zerger and I am currently a senior at Kansas State University. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. My degree is in Animal Science, Production Management option, with a Minor in Agronomy. Sarah has already informed you about agronomy so I’ll take this opportunity to talk to you about the animal side. When you tell most people that you’re an animal scientist they automatically think that you want to be a vet. That is true for some but not for me. I chose animal science to learn more about the species I love the most…BOVINE (aka cows)!!! Currently, I am working to figure out my plans after I graduate, so more about me to come!!

We are very excited to begin this journey with all of you and see where it takes us.
